Production is spread over five different territories of the largest island in the Mediterranean, under the careful oversight of <strong>Alessio, Francesca and Santi Planeta:<\/strong> their forward-thinking, yet at the same time careful activity has allowed them to \u201cchurn\u201d extremely high-quality wines out of all their cellars.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Today I will tell you about a bottle that struck me most of all for its clean aroma and pleasant drinkability.<\/p>\n<p>Its name is <strong>Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico Dorilli<\/strong> vintage<strong> 2014<\/strong>. <strong>Dorilli<\/strong> is a location in South-eastern Sicily, near the town of<strong> Acate<\/strong> (<strong>Ragusa<\/strong> province). in the heart of the birthplace of <strong>Nero d&#8217;Avola;<\/strong> still, the contribution of <strong>Frappato<\/strong>, territorial grape par excellence, is nevertheless instrumental in the wine\u2019s composition. The <strong>classic DOCG<\/strong> \u201cblend\u201d actually consists of <strong>70% Nero d&#8217;Avola and 30% Frappato grapes. Cerasuolo di Vittoria is the unique DOCG wine tipology in Sicily<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The vines grow on red sands under which, at about one meter deep, lies a layer of tuff.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-15201 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winereporter.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/20170115_134616-169x300.jpg\" alt=\"20170115_134616\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" \/>The <strong>Dorilli<\/strong> presents a ruby red hue with a violet edge. Perfumes are a mix of black cherry, violet flowers, spices such as pink pepper, juniper, cardamom and finish of cinnamon shades and a sprinkling of vanilla. Overall, the hues are soft and distinct. There\u2019s a perfect correspondence between the flavor and the taste: the wine is soft, intense, clean, with smooth tannins and a good concentration of fruit with its own distinct taste. Each sip of this wine calls for another. A real treat for the palate.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Some technical details<\/strong>: the winemaking process consists of the wine being macerated on its lees for 21 days at 25 \u00b0 C; then, after being racked, it undergoes malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks; it\u2019s then aged for 12 months in 36 hectolitres oak barrels.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>DOCG<\/strong>: wine with denomination of controlled and guaranteed origin<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Retail price: \u20ac 15 &#8211; $ 16; My rating: 92\/100<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.planeta.it\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.planeta.it\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From the land known as the birthplace of Nero d&#8217;Avola comes Cerasuolo di Vittoria by Planeta.
